Nestled in the heart of the Valais, the charming resort of Crans-Montana exudes a welcoming and cozy vibe. The resort rests on a vast, sunny plateau at an altitude of 1,500 meters, offering breathtaking views of the 4,000-meter peaks on the left bank of the Rhone. In the past, visitors flocked here to recuperate their health by taking sun cures in the luxurious spa hotels built at the end of the 19th century. Today, Crans-Montana's reputation is built on its world-renowned golf and skiing facilities.
The Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, one of Switzerland's most famous courses, boasts an impressive 18-hole "Severiano Ballesteros" course and hosts the Omega European Masters annually. Meanwhile, the resort's skiing facilities are equally impressive, dominated by the Plaine Morte and its famous glacier. The slopes of the Nationale and Mont Lachaux regularly host prestigious World Cup skiing events.
Crans-Montana is not afraid of innovation, as evidenced by its daring architecture. The Supercrans Tower, a controversial 17-story building facing the sun, still divides opinion amongst architects and the general public. A little further on, in Aminona, a city of Tibetan inspiration composed of several towers, is emerging. A stroll through the resort is like taking a journey through time, with emblematic buildings from different eras on display.
To celebrate the resort's rich heritage, the art edition pays homage to the Pointe de la Plaine Morte weather station, which opened in 2013 at the top of the ski area, nearly 3,000 meters above sea level. The station's design resembles a golf ball on its tee, with the Plaine Morte glacier stretching out like a vast fairway at the player's feet, culminating in the icy gray-green beauty of Lac des Faverges.
