The Story Behind

The birthplace of Alpine sports and a snowy playground for the world’s elite, St Moritz has staged the Winter Olympics twice and even hosts snow polo on a frozen lake every January. Since the 1920's, the frozen lake has also become the playground for the International Concours of Elegance “The Ice”, a celebration of automotive style and design, as well as conservation and restoration. As Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Honorary Chairman of the Jury, explains: “watching the cars over the snow, without any distracting element one would find on the road, recreates the effect a designer achieves by drawing an automobile on a white sheet of paper…”.

The artwork depicts the symbol of the supercars of the 70's. The legendary Lamborghini Countach went from being a concept-car to being produced in a very limited edition, which has raised the supercar to the rank of an icon. With its avant-garde design and extremely powerful engines, the Countach has largely inspired the brand's later models like the Diablo or the Gaillardo. The scissor doors have also remained the brand's signature.

With only 2,042 units over its 16 years of production, the Lamborghini Countach is worth "gold" today. Priced at around 300'000 CHF for a 25th anniversary model, some Countachs like the original LP 400 are traded above 1 million CHF. Putting your hands on this supercar is undeniably difficult, but the ultimate experience is not only to drive the car on the street, but to reach the top of the world and drift with it on an icy lake in the middle of a unique winter landscape.
