Creation Details

New York, Douglas DC-4, HB-ILA is an Atelier WOCS creation, meticulously crafted in the Geneva ateliers, where artistry and precision converge.

This composition anchors the first Swiss transatlantic flight of 1947 in a format dedicated to historical transmission. Crafted with exacting attention to form and scale, it offers a lasting record of a moment that contributed to the architecture of international presence.

The work is issued in a limited edition of 50 numbered exemplars, each signed, sealed by the Maison, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Story Behind

On May 2nd, 1947, a Swissair DC-4 bearing the registration HB-ILA departed from Geneva-Cointrin and crossed the Atlantic to New York. The aircraft, named Genève, opened a transatlantic axis at a time when long-distance flight remained a declaration of vision.

This composition was issued in 2025, in anticipation of the 80th anniversary of that historic departure. It joins the archival line of Atelier WOCS as a cultural artefact, shaped to preserve the discreet expansion of Swiss presence in the postwar world.

The gesture it recalls continues to resonate: movement shaped by structure, ambition defined by precision, and connection carried through time. The flight between Geneva and Manhattan opened access. In that opening, a quiet legacy took form, one that endures through memory, and now lives in this composition.
