The Story Behind
The San Bernardino Pass, once a proving ground for 1950s race cars, set the stage for the legend of the Mercedes 300 SLR, one of the rarest and most coveted automobiles in history. Only two were ever built. One now rests in the Mercedes-Benz Museum; the other, sold for $143 million, remains a symbol of timeless elegance and engineering brilliance.
This creation captures the spirit of those years, as the 300 SLR carves through the pass beneath the silhouette of Piz Uccello. It evokes the quiet thrill of a weekend drive in the Alps, when beauty and performance were inseparable, and racing was an art form.
