The Story Behind
This creation, housed in the official collection at the Swiss National Library in Bern, portrays the Simplon Pass and was initially part of the "Swiss Legendary Drives" series by Atelier WOCS, which has since been renamed the "Elevation" collection. This piece reflects a distinctive artistic style, drawing inspiration from Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" through its whimsical architectural details and soft pink hues, adding a unique cinematic flair.
The Simplon Pass is illustrated as a remarkable alpine crossing over 2000 meters high, renowned for remaining accessible during the winter months with its dramatic snow walls. The artwork includes the hospice at the summit, built in 1801 at Napoleon’s behest, originally serving as both a military barracks and a refuge. Today, this building has been updated to accommodate up to 130 visitors year-round.
